SELL YOUR CARDS

I would love to opportunity to work with you to liquidate your sports card collection. Whether it’s your own long-time collection, or it was left to you, I’m happy to help navigate the process of selling them. The following page will answer many frequent questions that I get regarding buying cards. When you’re ready, send me a text at 916-538-0874 or an email to [email protected].

How can I sell my cards?

I usually start the process by asking for some general info about the cards. These details include: which sports are they from? What years are they from? Approximately how many are there? Do you know of any highlights of the collection?

Don’t worry if you don’t know the answers to any or all of these! We can work around that.

The single best thing you can do if trying to sell your cards is to take 4-6 pictures from various parts of the collection. So a picture from one binder here, and a picture of a dozen cards spread out from a box there. Just enough to give me a better idea of what’s there. You can send those via text or email.

All I’m looking for in the initial info is that there is enough of a value to get a good-sized deal going. I don’t have high minimums but I am not in the business of making a 2 hour round trip to buy $200 in cards.

After I have determined that I think there’s enough value, I will make an appointment to come out, take a further look in person, and make a cash offer on the spot. In situations where I feel like the offer will be large, I will not carry the cash with me for safety reasons, but I will get the offer in place, then go get cash and come finish out the deal all within the hour.

If you’re uncomfortable with me coming to your home right off the bat, I also can meet you at a coffee shop nearby your home so we can meet first. You can also opt to bring the collection to a neutral public location (busy parking lot, inside coffee shop) but generally the collections I buy are too large for this to make sense.

What are you looking for?

The best way to answer this is that I am looking for complete collections. I don’t need every card to be worth money, but I am not interested in 25,000 cards that don’t have any value. In general, for cards to have any sort of respectable level of value, they should be made outside of the year range of 1988-1992. Even going 2-3 years in each direction may not be spectacular for value.

I do not need the cards to be organized or sorted. On occasion, that can be a plus, but it is not a requirement at all. I do ask that you note any major damage (aka water, smoke) beforehand.

I will also buy sports magazines like old Becketts, Sports Illustrated and others. Generally, magazines don’t carry a ton of value, but I am willing to look and see what you’ve got.

Additionally, I will take on memorabilia, toys, non-sport cards and other similar items as part of a larger card deal. Typically, I do not exclusively buy those items though.

What do you avoid?

I don’t buy collections that are clearly picked over, leaving only the junk. I also don’t generally buy cards made in the past two years. I also avoid collections that are only from the years 1986-1994.

I do not buy stamps, coins, Hot Wheels, Pokemon or MTG exclusive collections (will take these as part of a larger collection including sports cards), redemption cards or collections with a large amount of uncertified autographed items.

Where do you buy?

I am based in the Folsom area and typically buy within a 70 mile radius of that. If the distance is further, I will ask the seller to come up with a price beforehand, that way we have a deal in place before I make the trip out.

I have bought sports card collections in Jackson, Fairfield, Placerville, Grass Valley, Paradise Valley, Sacramento, Folsom, Stockton, Auburn and everywhere in between!

I do ask that you do put any dogs or animals away before my arrival, as well as give me a heads up about any gate codes/access points/etc that I should know about.

What I want you to know

I feel that I am very fair, honest and easy to work with. You can see several comments on my Facebook page from happy customers who had great experiences.

I know the value of just about all cards. I am a realist when it comes to value and am unable to pay based on someone else’s emotional attachment to the cards.

I respect other people’s time and ask that you do the same. If you know the cards have been picked through and the good ones taken, please make that known. I will never make an offer based on what I think is there, or what someone tells me is there- I am only able to make an offer based on what I see, and what I can reasonably assume is unseen. Example: telling me you know there’s “a Mickey Mantle rookie in there somewhere” is just a waste of my time and yours. If there are any cards that would swing my offer one way or another by more than $50- you’ll want to be sure that card can be produced while I am there.

I do not have a shop, and employees or any overhead. Because of this, I feel like I am able to give stronger offers than most. I also have a large knowledge of cards from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, which many card shops and current card dealers don’t want to deal with, so I buy cards that many others won’t. I look at it as if I am buying work. I have no problem sorting through 40 large boxes of cards to weed them down to 1/2 of one box of cards that I will eventually sell.

No collection (as far as quantity) is too small or too large. I have bought a single box before, and I have rented a U-Haul before. It’s a matter of value. Funny thing is I paid more for the single box than I did for the U-Haul full of cards.

I am happy to answer any other questions you have! Feel free to text 916-538-0874 or email [email protected] and we’ll get the ball rolling!
